Nishide Tea: Certified Organic Gyokuro – Uji, Kyoto

For over 140 years, the Nishide family has been crafting tea in Ujitawara — the very birthplace of Japanese green tea. This gyokuro is certified organic by JAS, Japan’s strictest organic standard.

Shaded for three weeks before harvest, the leaves develop a deep, sweet umami with almost no bitterness. The Yabukita cultivar, grown without chemicals on the tea farms of Kyoto, produces a clean, layered flavor that reveals itself across multiple steepings.
